I went to an insane yard sale with my friend Joanne this morning…. unbelievable amounts of vintage and antique textiles and knick knacks…. we ran into our friends Julie and Luke, dug through boxes for about 3 hours, snapped a lot of photos, haggled (Joanne: successfully. Me: not so), and came away with a lot of treasures.

Philippe Ferrandis necklace
This Philippe Ferrandis necklace is a major score from a couple of weeks ago but this is the first time I’ve gotten time to photograph it…. I found this for $5 in a super secret location in Vancouver, Washington. Actually, my nicest friend ever found it and let me buy it… I won’t steal the credit entirely. Anyway, considering Philippe Ferrandis’ couture jewelry designer status I’d say that’s a once in a lifetime price for a necklace like this.
Philippe Ferrandis broke into the couture jewellery design limelight in Paris in 1986. Since then he has designed for Chanel, Balmain, Givenchy, Oscar de la Renta and Nina Ricci amongst others….. He now designs for Swarovski.
I’m so in love with this necklace…. 7 strands of weighty silver chain and large amber Swarovski crystals? Yes, please! The best part is the hidden detail amber gem which rests against the base of the neck. Opulent!

CALIFORNIA
I’m off to California tomorrow to do some mega-shopping! God, I love California. I love it so much that I have to remind myself regularly that I was actually born in Portland, Oregon. Not California. I’ve dreamed of being a California Girl for a long, long time now…..

I’m going to try to do some blogging while I’m down there so I can share what I find…. but if I don’t get a chance, have an amazing week and I’ll be back soon with many treasures for you!!!!!!! xoxo

Kim Namanny (And Me)
I made a really lovely new friend recently who just so happens to be one of the best hair stylists in town. Her name is Kim Namanny and she recently opened up her own studio in the Ford Building which is quickly becoming a Portland hot spot. It’s an amazing space on the 3rd floor; full of light, fresh flowers, scents of lemongrass and lavender, white leather couches, lucite lamps, and an incredible view of industrial South East.![]()
I just about died and went to heaven when Kim asked me if I wanted to start keeping some of my higher end vintage in her space. UM… EFF YES I DO. The idea is to have one large shared rack of clothing featuring 2 local high end designers and then me; with my high end vintage. Starting today I’ll be keeping anywhere from 6 to 12 pieces at all times in her studio/boutique. ![]()
If you live in Portland I HIGHLY recommend getting your hair cut by Kim, she is such an expert. And when you are done with your cut, you can play dress dress up!![]()
Here’s just a few of the things I took to Kim’s studio today to kick off our new venture……![]()
Hand made lace blouse, 1910’s
1980’s Blue burnout velvet/black chiffon blouse and 1980’s draped peachy speckled silk blouse
1950’s black chiffon silk skirt
Olive linen Giorgio Armani shirt dress and 1970’s deco-style beaded and sequinned chiffon wrap
1960’s printed cotton skirt
1970’s black crepe wrap dress and 1980’s jewel tone satin banded crepe skirt

The Ford Building is at SE 11th and Division in Portland, OR. Kim’s studio is on the 3rd floor, #339.

Blue dress
I got all excited today thinking that I was going to enter the Mad Men open casting call contest. I put on my favorite blue 50’s dress with a print that always makes me think of Prada, did my hair up in a nice tall wave, donned some red, red lips and topped the whole look off with a blue Dior signature print silk scarf. After all this I sat down to read the fine print. That is when I learned a lesson. Read the fine print FIRST, Desirée!!! ![]()
Apparently to enter this contest you first have to go to a Banana Republic to obtain a secret code which you are supposed to include in your submission. No secret code, no submission. Well, I just didn’t have it in me today to drive downtown, pay for parking, then forge my way through the mall to find the Banana Republic.![]()
Mad Men will have to wait, but I didn’t want to waste my outfit, so I snapped a few crappy Photobooth photos. xo![]()
